Assam Rifles Public School..Laitkor,Shillong where i did my schooling. ARPS is located in the beautiful Hill Valley in the North Eastern state of Meghalaya.
Assam Rifles Public School is a Residenital School and one of the best residential school in India which was established in 1980. The school was inaugurated by the Governor of the North Eastern states, L.P. Singh. The Motto of the school was to provide Quality Education to the ward of JCOs,Officers and personnel of Assam Rifles.It imparts quality education to its students with the help of very good infrastructure.The school especially has accommodation for boys and very few dayscholars like girls. It offers all the Streams like Science, Humanities and Commerce till +12.
The Infastructure of the School include Various Play ground for different games, Golf Course, infirmary and a stationary store within the school premises along with Shoping Center. Appart from that there is are other hobbies that is offered by the school for the students like art & painting, clay modelling, batik, carpentry, candle craft, music, (instrumental & vocal), pipers band, dramatics, art & painting, clay modelling, batik, carpentry, candle craft, music, (instrumental & vocal), pipers band, dramatics.
Sports: Various games like volleyball, cricket, football, handball, basketball, marathon, boxing, khokho, badminton, athletics, gymnastics and table tennis. Optional games include golf, horse riding and tennis. In addition to these hobbies and Games there are other organized groups and societies which help to discover newer talents: English Literary Society conducts elocution, debates, dramas, quiz contests,Hindi Parishad conducts elocutions, debates and dramas,Indian Music Society organizes musical concerts & contests, Western Music Society organizes musical concerts & contests,N.C.C./ Scouts,Nature Club in collaboration with the World Wild Life Society and Film Society organizes film shows regularly.
It has around 10-12 dormetry for different Class group, Holding House is for the Class 4 and 5 , and the other is for Junior and senior dormetry for Class 6-9 and for Class 10-12. There are four different Dormetry for diffrent house like Manipur house, Nagaland house, Arunachal House and Mizoram house, every house has two dormetry Junior and Senior. I was in the Manipur House with the batch no: MP 420.....hahaaaaa it was a bit bout the school ARPS.
About Shillong: Its is the Captal city of Meghalaya which is situated at an average altitude of 4,908 ft (1,496 m) above sea level. Its is also a popular tourist destination in North Eastern State. during the British rule it was the capital of the the erstwhile British provincial state of Assam, even after the Indian Independence. Its a Ideal picnic spot with the great view of whole shillong, 1965 metres above sea level and 10 kms from the city, offers a panoramic view of these country side, and is also the highest point in the State. Few hours walk from Shillong Peak is a treaking place to elephant Falls in between outskirt of the mountain stream descends through two successive falls set in dells of fern-covered rocks. Few distance beyond the falls, there are two smaller falls which are beautiful and captivating. These are the Wei Iaplam Falls and the other is Wir Phang Falls. A well paved footpath and a small wooden bridge facilitate the falls.

A beautiful lake in the Heart of the City, police Bazar which is the only man made lake in the middle of town, where there is a ficilities for boating and footpath,a nice place for picnic too. Beside the lake there is a small botanical garden.

BaraPani ( Umiam Lake )
Umiam or Barapani , its 16 kilometres before reaching to Shillong. There is a campus consists of a beautiful Orchid Lake Resort, the Nehru Park. Besides it also offers a wide choice of exciting water sports activities with row-boats, paddle-boats, cruise-boats, sailing-boats, water-scooters, speed-boats and a floating restaurant with ferry services.
Last but not the least Cherrapunjee (Sohra) which is situated 56 Kilometer and arund 4 hour drive from Shillong and its 1300 meter above sea level, its is known as the rainiest place in the Planet with the average rainfall stands at 11,430 millimetres (450 in). Can you Imagine a maximum single year rainfall of 22,987 mm (904.9 inches) and the maximum rainfall in a single month: 9299.96 mm (366.14 inches)its really high it was in the year of August 1860 and July 1861 and in the month of July 1861 for wich it holds two Guinness world records.Appart from this there are many beautifull falls and the clear view of Bangladesh.Cherrapunjee

With A pleasant drive to see roaring water falls leaping into deep gorges, including the famous Nohsngithiang falls is certainly an ever memorable visual treat. The lovely town is also famous for its limestone caves, orange,and honey.

Krem Phyllut:
It is Situated in village Mawsmai to the south part of Cherrapunjee.This cave has a large section of fossil passage, two stream ways and three entrances. The length of the cave is 1003 m.
